Swedish furniture giant IKEA takes a light-hearted jab at tech giant Apple with their latest commercial for their 2015 catalogue, billed as the ‘bookbook™.’
Parodying the likes of iPad and iPhone commercials, the viral clip positions their catalogue as the next big thing in technology. “At only 8mm thin, and weighing in at less than 400g, the 2015 IKEA Catalogue comes pre-installed with thousands of home furnishing ideas.” It also comes fully charged at all times, with “eternal battery!”
Created by ad agency BBH, the satirically over-the-top commercial is hilarious and effective marketing at its best. Indeed for some, a new IKEA catalogue can be quite an eye-opening experience. Watch the funny spoof below.
